custom kung fu suit, red silk noil
My Sparring Partner, in Dallas, 2001. The first tai chi uniform
I made for him. This one is red silk noil, a/k/a "raw" silk,
although that is a misnomer. Completely patterned from scratch,
for some stupid reason that seemed noble at the time.

white linen tai chi uniform

My white tai chi uniform. This is a linen/cotten blend with
silk dupioni facing in silver and dupioni-covered buttons down
the front. This one is always a big hit at competitions.
If only my form were as good-looking; I'd be a gold medalist.

black and silver short kimono
A pretty and slinky black short kimono with extra-long sleeves,
made from polyester charmeuse. I wear this around the house
on Sunday mornings (on days when the Sparring Partner makes breakfast).
This was a practice kimono in preparation for the geisha costume, below.

Pseudo-kimono made for my friend Amber, who was a geisha for Halloween.
This also has the extra-long sleeves. The fabric was gorgeous, a printed
polyester georgette, underlined with red habotai silk. I hand-dyed
her "obi" to coordinate.
